Organisations around the globe are greatly concerned about lack of women in leadership positions, and research and media are heavily dominated with a focus on women in leadership and on boards. However, to achieve a sustained solution to this problem, we must focus on developing, nurturing, and empowering young women today to become leaders of tomorrow.

Even though many young women engage in co-curricular activities during university education to build their skillset, these activities are generally self-directed and generally very sporadic. Therefore, the need for a structured and moderated program is vital to prepare these young female leaders to succeed and stand out in a rapidly changing world. A report by Deloitte Access Economics considers two-thirds of all jobs by 2030 will be made up of soft-skill-intensive occupations. And, according to the VP of LinkedIn Learning there are certain skills (such as leadership, communication and problem solving) in demand across all industries that can help grads stand out from the crowd, start their careers on the right foot and position themselves for advancement as the economy recovers. Spending time learning these skills, which will be necessary to thrive in today’s ever changing world of work, will help career starters get ahead as the economy recovers. Therefore, developing and enhancing these skills in young women through a comprehensive program is key.
